Heart Attack Anniversary

Yesterday was the 13th year anniversary of my Heart Attack. I’m so fortunate to still be here. It was what they call the widow maker. The LAD was 100% blocked, however, 2 stents later it was 0% blocked. The cardiologist told me that I needed a quadruple bypass the next day as I had 3 other arteries 40% to 70% blocked. I declined and I’m so glad. Laura brought my laptop to me in the Cardiac ICU and I found 2 books by cardiologists on how to reverse heart disease naturally. It was essentially a vegan diet (no dairy, eggs, or meat) without oil or sugar. I went from 205 lbs to 154 lbs. in about 3 months. A nuclear stress test about 5 years ago showed a definite regression in the plaque build-up. Today, I feel better than when I was a teenager. Today, my Chlorestrol is only 82 with an HDL of 55. BP stays around 115/55, and resting heart rate is 68. They took me off 3 of my meds and reduced the other 2 to very low doses to reduce any further risk. I walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes 4 to 5 nights a week with 20 minutes of yoga and 20 minutes of Tai Chi. I”m so glad that I didn’t take the cardio advice. On my next visit when he walked into the exam room, he looked like he had seen a ghost. I told him, he should buy the books and asked why I wasn’t given that option and he told me that 99% of the patients could not do what I did. So Happy 13th HA Anniversary to me. By the way, take the “awesome foursome.” CoQ10, Magnesium, L-Carnitine, and D-Ribose.
